According to a statement from the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Lviv Regional State Administration on Facebook, the total area of perennial fruit and berry plantations across all categories of farms is 15.3 thousand hectares, of which 90% of the area (13.9 thousand hectares) is in the fruit-bearing age.
The average yield of fruit and berry crops for the current year is higher by 13.7% (+14.3 c/ha compared to the previous year) and amounts to 118.9 c/ha. The largest increase in yield compared to the previous year is observed in the following crops: blackberry (+76%), apple (+19.7%), peach (+21.7%), garden strawberry (+17.3%), cherry (+16.3%).
According to the operational information of the department, farms of all categories for the current year have planted over 680 hectares of new areas for perennial plantations, of which 364 hectares are in the commercial sector.
“About 60% of the new areas in industrial production were established thanks to grant support under the ‘eWork’ program. During the program’s period, 13 entities received UAH 59.9 million for the establishment of 217.5 hectares of new planting areas. The top 3 crops in the new plantations are blackberry, hazelnut, and garden strawberry,” comments the department director Tetiana Hetman.
