Food inflation in Ukraine stood at 8.4% in August.
This information was reported by the Center for Social and Economic Research (CASE) Ukraine, citing Bloomberg.
As noted, this figure places Ukraine among countries with moderate inflation, along with Japan, where the rate is 8.6%, as well as Latvia and Ireland, both at 8.2%.
At the same time, food inflation in Russia is 3.58%, and in Belarus, it’s 3.4%.
“Likely, factors such as the harvest and keeping fuel prices low (while in Ukraine, the return of the 20% VAT continues to cause them to rise) played a role,” experts believe.
The global leaders in food inflation are Venezuela at 403%, Lebanon at 274%, Argentina at 133%, and Turkey at 72.86%.
