Support Ukrainian Horticulture by Improving Bussiness

Grants from the state and regional budget will stimulate the establishment of new orchards and berry plantations in Lviv region.

In 2023, agricultural producers plan to establish approximately 400 hectares of new fruit and berry plantations, including with the support of grant funding under the “eWork” program. In the structure of establishing new areas, 50%, or 200 hectares, will be allocated for berries, 45% for nut-bearing crops, and 5% for fruit crops, according to the Department of Agricultural Development of the Lviv Regional State Administration.

“The share of commercial fruit and berry cultivation in the region is relatively small, but this year it is projected to create about 400 hectares of new industrial plantations. To achieve this, we actively attract support from the state and regional budgets in the form of grants and projects for the development of production and the organization of value-added enterprises,” commented Tetiana Hetman, Director of the Department of Agricultural Development of the Lviv Regional State Administration.

It is noted that about 160 economic entities in the region are engaged in the industrial production of fruits and berries, cultivating perennial fruit and berry plantations on an area of 2.0 thousand hectares (14.0% of the total area). In the structure of perennial plantations in the industrial sector, grain and stone fruits account for 68%, berry crops – 24%, nut-bearing crops – 7%, and vineyards – about 1%.
